Wiyi Yani U Thangani
In May 2023, the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) held a national women’s summit based on the Wiyi Yani U Thangani report. The Summit was designed to be the first-ever national gathering of its kind and provided a platform for First Nations women and girls to drive real systemic change for gender equality and justice.
Michelle worked with the AHRC and June Oscar to assist in the development of the implementation framework and direction of the Summit, ensuring themes and content were consistent with the overarching report, and supporting and establishing the design committee meetings, agendas, and requirements and co-hosted the June Oscar.
Shikierra worked closely with the team on all Summit logistics, procurement, suppliers, run sheets, the Youth Action Coalition, and guidance on the youth Summit direction and goal to ensure it aligned with the themes of the larger summit and worked closley with DIYDG to support them throughout the Youth Summit.
