Deshong Consulting has extensive experience in Leadership development having not only been instrumental in the delivery of programs but also undertaking many leadership roles across the country. Deshong Consulting creates Leadership spaces that encompass the full leadership spectrum, mentoring and guiding agents of change to enhance leadership capabilities across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia and internationally.

With over 30 years’ experience in developing leadership curriculums, program designs, and delivering training outcomes, Deshong Consulting is highly regarded for their leadership capability. Deshong Consulting has worked with several organisations to help grow leadership capability, create an emergence of leaders ready to become strong advocates of transformational change. Over many years Deshong Consulting has developed tailored leadership programs as well as delivering programs for the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation (Milparanga and ARLP), the Australian Indigenous Leadership Centre (Certificate and Diploma programs) and Oxfam Australia (Gender workshops and Straight Talk).

Deshong consulting as a family business believes in supporting generational change and within our own company are focussed on succession planning. In the last few years the team has grown to include further areas of expertise in, Events Management, Program Development, Research, Indigenous Games and Communication and Marketing experience. This allows Deshong Consulting to bring a unique insight and diversification to our work, creating pathways, innovation and renewed perspectives for a growing body of work.

Governance

Deshong Consulting’s Managing Director is well known for their governance knowledge, expertise and contribution through Board roles, not-for-profit’s, non- government-organisations and government. More importantly, Michelle has also undertaken an extensive body of work, focussed on the reclamation of cultural governance principles and ways of working, having also previously led the Australian Indigenous Governance Institute. This provides a unique opportunity for Deshong Consulting to work with community organisations, businesses and Agencies to pursue purposeful engagement focused on self-determination through self-governance.

The team at Deshong Consulting have a strong background in governance research, published articles, governance training and curriculum development and can tailor training to suit the needs of the individual client. Providing organisations and communities with support to navigate governance compliance requirements and ensuring cultural knowledge and practices enhance excellence and strengthened capability.

Community Capacity Building

Deshong Consulting has been involved in Indigenous affairs for over 30 year and knows what it takes to engage with metropolitan, regional and remote communities. Having worked across government and not for profit sectors, Deshong Consulting has helped navigate meaningful change in communities and not for profit organisations. Across many years, Deshong consulting has helped to build the foundations of community organisations and corporations resulting in the realisation of strategic projects and leading to improved outcomes and meaningful change.

Both Shikierra and Jermaine have been instrumental in leading community youth initiatives and engaging young people to collaborate and develop youth councils and initiatives in their communities. They are often engaged in creating spaces for young people to come together, share ideas and work on project outcomes. This is leading to generational change and bringing young people together to collaborate on local and regional initiatives.

Gender Advocacy

Michelle is an accomplished presenter, facilitator, orator and engager of audiences. Using a unique blend of enthusiasm, wit, personal experiences and expert knowledge she has presented at many forums, workshops, and conferences. She has that unique capacity to read a room and keep people engaged and motivated. This capability has provided Michelle opportunities to emcee events and deliver keynote addresses at National and International forums. She has presented on a wide range of topics such as gender equality, leadership, cultural governance and politics.
